When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.

When there is no enemy within

As we remember the sad events of 9/11 2001, it is important to remember these words of wisdom from Winston Churchill. “When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you”.

What does he mean by enemies within? It could mean the enemies that we have allowed access into our lives like the terrorists of 9/11. Enemies within could also be our fears and our insecurities that make us vulnerable to the enemies outside.

I have always believed that the best approach to life is to love everyone. Position yourself to desire the best for everyone around you. If you do not allow any poison of hatred, fear, insecurities to enter your heart then all that the enemies outside can do, is help you grow stronger, wiser and more productive. Every time someone tries to hurt me, I learn something about life and about myself that makes me a better man.

The pains of September 11, 20o1 may still linger in the hearts of some, but the real damage is the fear that many have allowed to get into them. Let’s choose not to fear but to love and live our lives to the full. Those who want to do evil will be the ones to live in fear of being caught.

Take Action – As you go around today, look at the people around you and say in your heart – “I love you”. Let the people in your live know that you love them. Forgive those who hurt you and remember that as long as you don’t let the enemy in, the hurt will only turn into strength.

If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster, your gifts will take you places that will amaze you. – Les Brown

Diana Nyad
recently completed a 110 mile swim from Cuba to Florida at at age 64 and on the 5th attempt since 1978. Imagine swimming for 53 hours!

Many times we don’t recognize or value our gifts enough to develop them to the point that they begin to open doors that will amaze us. People like Diana did not become such examples of success by wishing! They set goals, they pursued the goals and even when they failed, they continue to re-calibrate, change their methods and try again until their goals are accomplished.

If you have clear goals then go after those goals with all the determination you can muster! Why don’t you take a minute right now to review your goals! Make them clearer if need be and take one action in the next hour toward one of those goals.

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value. ~Albert Einstein

In other words, don’t focus on being rich or popular! Don’t focus only on achieving a status or position. All these are outside you and can be taken from you! What you want to do is to become so useful to people around you that they can’t do without you! Then riches and wealth and fame would naturally follow!

To be wise is to become a person of value! When seeking wisdom your focus is not on the loads of money or attention you would get but on the number of people you would help! You are not counting the number of hours you have worked or spent, you count the number of people that will be blessed by your investment.

If you are an employer you don’t focus on being promoted, you focus on how much your contribution is making a difference to the company goal and the world around you!

Are you an entrepreneur, then wisdom requires that you set your business up to solve a problem! Always know the problem around you to which you and your business is a solution!

Riches and honor always follow wisdom and people are always willing to pay for something that has value! You will be very rich if you focus on being valuable. It would take hard work and diligence but it is well worth the investment.

Like eggs we must be hatched or go bad – C S Lewis

We must be hatched or go bad

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.

-C. S. Lewis

What does it mean to be hatched?

To get out of your comfort zone, to learn new things, to move from dream state to reality! It takes boldness to move forward without knowing exactly what lies ahead! It takes a lot of hard work to convert your dreams to reality! However the cost of turning your dreams to reality is nothing compared with the cost of staying in the present state and going bad – that is broke, sad, unhappy, without hope and on…
