What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. – Romans 6:1-4 [NKJV]
What does it mean to be dead to sin? You and I know how real life works! You are bombarded with temptations all day long and I know that sometimes I fall into these temptations. So how can anyone claim to be dead to sins? The key is in the word sin as opposed to sins! Sin refers to the personification of sin in its oppressive role! Sin in its controlling role. In other words, I am no longer under the bondage of sin! I have the right, authority and strength to say no to sin. This does not mean that you will have no more temptations or that from time to time when you take off your mind from Lord Jesus Christ that you may not sin. It means you now have hope and an assurance that you can live in victory over sin.
As a slave to anyone, you can either be bought by another master or you die to be free from the slave master! Well in this case, we have died to the slave master because God would not pay any ransom to the enemy! So now the apostle Paul is challenging us to walk in our freedom! You are no longer under the power of Sin! You can say NO! Say NO!
How did we die to sin! We died to sin in Christ Jesus! When he died on the cross, we died with Him and when he resurrected, we resurrected with Him and got a new life! The life of Christ that is above sin!
As you go about you day, remember that you are not a slave of sin! You have died to sin! You have no business with sin. The new life that you have in Christ Jesus is able to resit sin! Give thanks to God for your freedom and walk in victory today. If you fall, repent and continue to walk in your freedom. It is true that you have died to sin! Don’t let anything stop you! Walk in your victory until it becomes obvious to you and everyone around you.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for delivering me from the power of sin! I agree that I have died to sin and as such I am no longer a slave to the poison of sin! I am free to live in righteousness and I believe that it will be easier for me to live in righteousness than to sin because of the new life I have in Christ Jesus! The Life of Christ is in me and I am so grateful! Thank you Jesus for your victorious life that I now have!

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. – Romans 5:19 [NKJV]
Isn’t it great to know that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross does not only take care of our past sins? It also makes us into righteous people. We are made righteous by receiving the gift of righteousness from Jesus. As long as we remain in Christ and Christ is in us, the life of Christ in us continues to work out this righteousness in our experience.
It’s true that when you received forgiveness and rejoiced in your salvation you felt clean and fresh only to discover that temptations don’t go away and worse still you still fall into sin! This can be quite devastating at first but you soon learn that there is provision for that also. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from every sin all the time and we can always confess that we have sinned and receive cleansing. Is that all? Will you have to keep on sinning and receiving cleansing all your life? Many say yes and they are right in one way but there is also another provision. We can have victory over sin. You don’t have to live a defeated life. You can have victory over sin. However because there is a learning period and growth involved you will find that you will need to receive cleansing all along the way but not for the same sins.
The scripture today shows us that although we were born sinners we can be made righteous through Jesus Christ. Which means that as you allow the righteousness of Christ to grow in you, you will also experience victory over sin and the devil. Temptations will not go away but the life of Christ in you will rise up to overcome these temptations as you learn to allow this life to manifest in you!
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for making me righteous through Christ Jesus! May your righteous life in me continue to increase until it is all of you and none of me! Oh how I long to enjoy the righteous life that you have given to me and display your glory every where I go. I receive grace to live in righteousness today and always.

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 [NKJV]
You are blessed as a child of the King of Kings! Since you have been reconciled to your father, you have enjoyed the abundance of his grace, you now have all it takes to reign in this life! Take note that you would not reign in the flesh (the old natural way of life) but in the spirit through Jesus Christ.
You no longer have to wait for life to kick you the way it wants, but you can through Jesus Christ declare what God wants for you and determine that GOD’s purpose will be done in your life! Declare that things will work out well for you! That they will turn out for the glory of God our father.
You are to reign. Begging for your basic necessities is not reigning! Falling into all sorts of sins is not reigning! The fact that you have the authority to reign does not mean you are reigning or you will reign. It’s time to take you position as the Kings Kid and say NO to the lies of the enemy!
Heavenly father, I thank you for your gift of righteousness that makes it possible for me to reign in this life through Jesus Christ. I ask that you will help me to remember this truth and not allow the enemy to trick me into struggling through life. In Jesus Name I choose to live with peace and take hold of my right as your child and make use of all the resources you have given me in Christ Jesus!
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [Romans 5:8]
The value of a thing is determined by how much you paid for it or how much you’d be willing to pay to replace it! You are very precious indeed because it cost the life of Jesus to buy your salvation. Your new life is indeed priceless because there is only one begotten son of the father!
As you go about your day today, think about how much you are worth to God and let it fill you with joy! God who gave his son for your salvation is not about to abandon you now!
Thank you Lord for loving me so much! Help me to always remember how much I am worth to you!
