God opposes the proud – reflections

“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I have been spending more time to meditate on the nature and character of God than I usually do!

I take one truth about God at a time and meditate on it and share my thoughts.

To know someone is not just to know what they like but also to know what they don’t like.

My wife doesn’t like eating bread! I cannot present her with bread as a special meal! The people that are close to her know that she doesn’t like bread.

God hates pride! It is very important to know that God opposes the proud! Why does God hate pride so much?

Pride makes us want to take the position of God in our own life! We loose out on many blessings and God does not like that.

Pride makes us very susceptible to the lies of our enemy the devil.

Pride does not only affect us, it makes us treat other people with less respect.

God is opposed to pride!

As I meditated on how God hates pride, I began to see more clearly how pride easily gets me from time to time!

It looks like I am an abomination to God without the blood of Jesus! Pride seems to be a vice that affects us from birth!

God hates pride and I find pride in my heart! God please help!

The more I meditate on God, the more I see that I am nothing without Him.

I choose to be nothing at your feet oh God!

Oh Lord! Help me to humble myself daily before you!

God is sovereign – Reflections on God – Day 19/31

“Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;”~ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭14:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When people say God is sovereign! They mean a whole number of things!
I do not want to go into all the different schools of thought that are available on this topic, let me just state that it does not mean that God is responsible for everything happening on earth!

God is sovereign! That is not to say that God is in control of every human and their actions!

God is sovereign! That doesn’t mean that God approves of your actions! A friend once said to me, after I confronted him on a sinful behavior, “if God did not approve of my actions, I would have been caught by now”. That sure is not what it means for God to be sovereign!

God is sovereign! It means that you can’t put God in a box! God is not forced to behave or act in a way that you expect! God is the most high!

God is sovereign! God cannot be controlled by us! God is the highest authority! God doesn’t need to get approved by anyone before acting!

God is Sovereign! God owns the big picture of life! God knows what to do and what is best at all times!

God is sovereign! If there are 100 ways to achieve a goal. God know all of them and has the authority and ability to choose any of the ways!

Many of the evils and negative events that we see are actions of the devil, mixed with the fact that we have free will or the outcome of our centuries of living as a fallen race!

I cannot say that God gave me a stroke! That would be wrong! Sickness and disasters are always from the enemy, the devil! But God is sovereign, God needs no permission to prevent the stroke! Since God did not prevent it, I believe God allowed the stroke!

Since God allowed it! Should I not resist it? Of course not! God knows that I can resist it! God knows that I can beat stroke, depression and disability in His name. That is why God allowed the stroke! We are not to accept the packages of the devil! Even when God allows them to come through! We must fight a good fight of faith against the enemy and trust that God is with us!

God is sovereign! But God limits Himself to grant us free will! If we could see the big picture, we would count it all joy when we fall into diverse trials and temptations!

I am glad that God whom I trust with my life is Sovereign! No one is above him! I give thanks to God for everything He continues to do in my life!

Dear sovereign God! Thank you for reminding me that there is no one above you! The devil is nothing compared with you! I surrender my life afresh to you!

Do with me and all that is mine as you please!

I pray in Jesus Name!

God is creator – Reflections on God- Day 12/31

“Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭100:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I like the that it is God who made me and not me, myself.

I do not own myself! There is one who knows me more than I can ever know myself.

God did not create me alone, God created all things! God created the heavens and the earth! God is the creator.

Jesus came to show us what it means to live with the full knowledge of God! To be in tune with God, the creator is to be in tune with the entire creation! I believe that is why Jesus could and did command the natural elements on earth.

A few days ago I went with my family and my sister to see some animals at an animal shelter! Just looking at those animals again, I was reminded of the great wisdom of God.

God is the ultimate creator! Whatever you see around is part of God’s creative work!

I think of how big the universe is! I think of how big the earth is to us and how small it is in the universe! Then I imagine God is beyond the universe! God is bigger than the universe!

God is beyond time!

God is our God! This brings us to the next meditation? What is God’s name?

God is not a name! It is a position like King, Father, Prophet, God!

The Lord He is God!

Every thing and everyone you see or know was made by God!

Thanks Lord for choosing to be our God! I confess that you are my God! I know you created me as I am! I rejoice in the truth that you know everything about me!

Use me for the purpose for which you made me Lord. I know I am part of your master piece! Have your way in me today and always.

Your Turn

Please share what God being the creator brings to your mind. I’m sure we will all be blessed.
