“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
Romans 12:4-5 NKJV
Another lesson that I have learnt from the experience of stroke is that every member of the church is important!
Stroke occurs when brain cells do not get oxygen because of a lack of blood flow! The longer these cells are deprived of blood flow the more brain cells die! As the brain cells die, one begins to loose the functionality of the organs controlled by that part of the brain.
It is quite interesting to note that there are so many muscles working quietly in the body. Many times we don’t even know they are there. Now that they are not yet functioning as they used to, I recognize their roles. I’m sure I will continue to be grateful for each muscle as the return to full activity!
Every member of the body of Christ is precious! If you don’t function in your role very well, the whole body suffers!
I’m also realizing even more than ever that I must be my brothers keeper! Devoting time and energy to help a brother or sister function better in the body of Christ is precious work indeed!
Let’s make sure that we are all being the best we can be! Let’s stay connected to the head! Let’s not allow any thing to disconnect us from our source!
