God is Good! – Reflections on who God is – Day 7/31

God is good

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever. -Psalm 107:1

God is good! All the time! (This is not just a saying. It is true!)

It is important to know that God is good. God is always good.

Everything that God does is good.

As I think of the truth that everything that God does is good, I feel so confident that He is doing a good work in me.

We all have bad days. What makes one day bad and the other good? A good day is a day when a lot of things worked the way we planned or expected them. Or when they work even better than we planned or expected.

A bad day, on the other hand, is a day when a lot of things don’t go as planned. It is a bad day even when one major thing goes in a direction we were not expecting.

I have come to believe that for children of God, every day is a good day. We have a good God who is always doing good things.

All things work together for our good because we love a good God and are called according to the purpose of a good God. (Rom 8:28)

Why then do bad things happen to good people who are serving a good God? I don’t have all the answers. There are a few good books on this topic. I will not attempt to answer it exhaustively. Here is just one thought on the topic.

Many of the things we call bad are good when you look at the bigger picture. Some negative situation today can work a greater positive tomorrow. Bad things happen. Our good God allows them because they will work out to become good.

Our good God let many things happen because if God were to intervene, God would have to change so many things, we will lose our freedom.

I am so glad to be in the hands of a good God. I am so glad that the evil actions of the devil will always be turned to good in the hands of my good God.

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Prayer

I have tasted and seen that you are good Oh God! My father in heaven. Your mercies never fail. I trust you. Thank you, God for being YOU.
