God is Holy – Reflections on who God is – Day 4 of 31

God is holy

And one cried to another and said:“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory! ~ Isaiah 6:3 NKJV.

God is Holy! What does that mean? When we say an object is holy, we mean that the object is reserved for God. The object, person or nation is devoted, consecrated to God.

So when we say God is holy, what does it mean?

To me, it means, God is perfect! God has perfect wisdom, God has perfect judgment, God has perfect knowledge -He knows all things.

God is Holy – God does not make mistakes. God loves perfectly. God is perfect in His actions. God always makes the best decisions without contradicting God’s love.

Since God is holy, that is God is perfect, I can depend on God. I desire to know his ways.

“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Leviticus – 19:2

God is Holy! God wants us to be holy too. For a long time, I thought because holiness for God means being perfect, then for me to be holy I had to be perfect.  So I tried to be perfect, and I soon learned that it is impossible to be perfect on earth. As a result, Leviticus 19:2 and 1 Peter 1:16 became a problem to me until I understood what holiness meant to us.

“… because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy” – 1 Peter 1:16

To be holy is to be devoted to God. I dread the thought of trying to be perfect but I love the thought of being devoted to God. I have realized and I continue to learn that God will make anything devoted to Him holy.

God commands us to be holy! God is holy and He wants to make us holy. He has the power to change my thoughts. To make me see as He sees. God is making me love like He loves. To be holy is to be perfect in Love.

God is Holy! The only way to respond to God is to be devoted to Him!

Lord, I am yours! I confess that you are Holy! I declare that I am holy unto you! You have consecrated me by your Holy Spirit. I rejoice in the truth that I am devoted to you. Help me, Lord, not to defile myself with all the temptations around.

Lord grant me grace not to seek applauds for myself, teach me to trust that your glory is more than anything I can achieve. Help me to always be satisfied with the fact that I am fully devoted to the Almighty God, who is light, love, eternal and perfect.

I can only imagine the wonders you have in store for me. I confess that sometimes, I think I need to prove that I am smart, strong, able to do a lot, but I am learning that all that I have is your gift. Without you I am nothing.

Thank you, Lord, for making me holy!

I pray all this in Jesus Name.
