“And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ””Exodus 3:14 NKJV
When I think of God as I AM! I think of God as eternal! I am who I am. That means I have been, I will be and will continue to be!
God is always in the present. God is outside our time. So to God, yesterday, today and forever are the same.
God knows the future because it is present to Him. We cannot understand this because we are created within time and it is beyond our scope of understanding.
C.S Lewis in his book Mere Christianity, tried to explain it like this. God is like an author that wrote a novel. The story in the novel and the novel is the earth and our reality. We are the characters in the novel. The author knows the beginning and end of the story but the characters do not.
So God has been for eternity before! There is nothing that preceded God.
Nothing catches God unawares! To us things may appear sudden. To God, He has always known.
God is reliable- He is! You can rest on the truth that God is always present! God will always be!
This gives me a lot of confidence and assurance that I am never alone. I can always call on God and that He always knows what I am going through.
This reminds me of this scripture:
““It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.” ~Isaiah 65:24 NKJV
God already knows the prayer I would pray next year and already responded in a way that is best for me and the entire universe!
My prayers are an outflow of my relationship with God. It’s is not an attempt at changing God! God is above time!
O Lord! I am happy to know that you are a constant in this changing world. I can always trust that you are. When everything is gone you remain the same! Thank you for being my God. My Father. My light.
Dear God, please help me to always remember that you will not change! Help me Lord to know and follow your eternally wise directions. Teach me Lord to see that you have a better view of this life that you have given me.
Lord, I am only a tiny part of a big story. Please help me and teach me to be a blessing to everyone around me.
I pray all this in Jesus Name.
